We currently have an opening for a Process Control Engineer in the Process Control Division, located at the Great Lakes Works operation in Ecorse, MI. As an integral part of this highly skilled, innovative team, you will play a significant role in providing critical services to our production operations. The successful candidate will assist with the design, development, testing and support of process control level 2 automation systems. We are seeking someone who is self-driven with Strong experience in Level 2 programming, including JAVA, Visual Studio C, R, and Python. Fortran and VMS experience would also be highly considered. The candidate would also be assisting in innovation projects utilizing industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing concepts. Knowledge of PTC Thingworx highly desired. The candidate will help in the support of level 2 enhancement and improvement projects at Great Lakes Works by working with operations and maintenance personnel on design and development of level 2 control systems. The applicant will support production hardware and software applications, SCADA systems, Graphical HMI applications and LAN communications. The applicant will be knowledgeable in industrial plant process control systems, including programming and technical support. The applicant will optimize and improve industrial plant process control solutions to meet business requirements. The applicant will translate business requirements into industrial application solutions and interact with personnel throughout the organization both as an individual and in a team environment. The ideal candidate is resourceful, motivated, and team oriented to assist in our transformation journey, the \"Carnegie Wayrdquo. bull Support the critical steel making operations at Great Lakes Works by ensuring that process control systems are highly available and error resistant. bull Identify, participate in, and or lead high impact process control projects that result in improvements to safety, quality, production yield and or financial benefits. bull Collaborate closely with Corporate Research Technology, Engineering, and Plant Operations Leadership to define process control strategy and develop solutions. bull Partner with plant operations and global peer leaders to develop, support, and champion the application of process control best practices. bull Work closely with operations teams to understand requirements and identify improvement opportunities translate into project or minor enhancement specifications, complete with work estimates and forecasted benefits. bull Develop and maintain mathematical models using data mining and statistical analysis methods. bull Design reporting, screens (HMIs), database schemas and web pages in support of the models. bull Analyzing short and long term hardware, software, equipment, and instrumentation requirements and providing appropriate and cost-effective technical solutions. bull Providing oral and written communication interfaces with departmental management, operations management, operating crews, control system support personnel, system support personnel and others. bull Providing process control support for a 24x7 industrial environment. Applicable Skills bull Programming Skills ndash JAVA, Visual Sudio C, Fortran, C bull Smart Manufacturing Apps ndash PTC Thingworx bull Data Analytics ndash R and Python bull OPCs such as Kepware, Matrikon, and IGS. bull SCADA - iFix, Wonderware, Cimplicity SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Software ndash Visual Studio, JAVA, Fortran, R, Python, PTC Thingworx Experience in a manufacturing environment desired Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field required 3-5 Years' Experience PERSONAL SKILLS REQUIRED Effective oral and verbal communication Team player Initiative to generate improvement ideas Motivation to maintain a high level of productivity and self-direction Energetic, motivated, innovative and working with multiple technologies and projects TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED Experience with a mix of Level 2 programming required Knowledge of PCT Thingworx, IoT 4.0, and Smart Manufacturing desired Experience with Visual Studio C, JAVA, R, or Python. Experience with databases like SQL, Oracle, and Postgress a plus. Experience with HMI and SCADA programming a plus. Knowledge of Tableau and other reporting tools a plus. There will be instances where overtime is required Once the candidate is familiar with an area and the applications in that area, heshe may be expected to respond to and resolve high priority tickets that arise after hours andor on weekends.
