POSITION: Senior Controls Engineer Automated Equipment
LOCATION: Grand Rapids, MI
The Senior Controls Engineer will lead a group of Controls Engineers in working with Project Managers and shop personnel to design, implement and document control systems for various types of automation and robotic equipment. You will be deeply involved with electrical/hydraulic pneumatic design, peripheral device programming, PLC programming, machine power-up, debug, power-up and validation / buyoff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Conduct electrical/hydraulic pneumatic design, peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with build and electrical teams and provide customer documentation as neededAbility and comfort programming PLC, HMI, Robots AutoCAD, Motion Control, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Vision Systems and other types of electronic devicesSupport Electricians and entire project team including Project Manager, Machine Builders and customer teamFlexibility and comfort troubleshooting issues that ariseDetailed-oriented open issues trackingTravel to install site for install and runoffs with the customer when applicable and necessaryProfessional management of customer relationship and requestsReal-time communication with company management on developmentsTeach less-experienced Controls Engineers and Electricians
QUALIFICATIONS:5+ years experience with automated equipment / machineryDegree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferredExperience with welding applications preferredAbility to design electrical schematics in AutoCAD Electrical or similar softwareTeam player, able to take direction and be self-directedHigh regard for safety standards
